Description

ATTACHING A TEASER OR DREDGE? DON’T WORRY- ANY OF OUR NEW OUTRIGGERS (18ft and up) ARE UP TO THE TASK, BUT YOU’LL WANT TO DO IT THE RIGHT WAY.

Which do you trust more with your carbon fiber outriggers and dredge systems or teaser chains?????

✗ (worst)

Metal clamps crush carbon fiber laminate, laminate and fiber orientation is how our outriggers are designed to be so strong and stiff to do their job without excess weight. The laminate schedules aren’t designed to be as crush resistant as a metal tube, so don’t expect them to deform and withstand what metal tubing can when clamped and compressed. Clamps not attached securely via compressive force cause another problem for laminates. If not rigid enough, the attached assembly and fasteners will vibrate and eventually compromise the laminate structure from friction and abrasion damage. Clamps we’ve seen used for years are also made of dissimilar oxidizing aluminum and stainLESS screws, and throwing a third conductive material, carbon fiber, into the mix? The problems just accelerate. Please don’t use clamps on our outriggers. We take it this so seriously because we want you to encounter as few problems as possible, even if you’re taking our products past the limits of anyone else’s. We’re okay with that, and our lifetime warranty is proof.

✗ (but better)

Plastic injection molded, 3D printed, or even machined plastic clamps are prone to deformation or failure over time when subjected to heavy loads, moisture and UV, and they pale in comparison to the strength of metal or a soft attachment system using synthetic braided material.
